Around the World
Day 2 in the jungle
Day two started earlier than expected. An insomniac cockerel started cock-a-doodle-doing at about 5am, and collectively we thought about killing him. After breakfast, we hit the track, and all the "village people" got into their pickup trucks and drove off. My own theory is that they are travelling actors, performing for tourists around the villages of northern Thailand

The walk was tough, but the scenery made it all worth while. Thankfully, we were more or less heading downhill for most of the day. We took a break along some paddy fields, where an elderly lady came from nowhere and sold us Coca Cola!

We arrived at our camp at about 3pm that afternoon. We would be staying here for the night, and then rafting down river the following day for the last leg of the trek. This is also where we would be doing our elephant riding. We had seen others pass us by, and it was amazing to be so close to these unusual creatures..
