Around the World
Day 1 in the jungle
It was an early start the next morning. We were beginning our 3 day trek through the jungle. Our travel companions consisted of about 5 english girls, a couple from London, and 4 swedes. A nice bunch in all. The first leg of the journey was a precarious drive into the hills. After 3 hours of that, we were longing for the chance to stretch our legs.

The weather was hot and sunny, and it didn't take long before we were all dying from the heat. Thankfully there was a waterfall stop, and I jumped at the chance to cool down. I can just see myself doing Timotai ads now.

We continued on up the hills. And those hills continued for ever. We thought every corner would be the last, but it never was. Until finally we arrived at the village we were going to be staying at. "Meet the traditional people" they said. "Experience the authenticity of rural life". The authentic village people had satellite dishes that would be the envy of any TV station. Every shack seemed to have it's own new pickup truck. We slept on a wooden platform in a hut, but I couldn't help thinking that our hosts were busy playing video games, or browsing the web. It was definitely not what I expected.
